do you need resistors or is there need to sodder in order to wire LED lights?
i have LED bulbs but i don't want to sodder and i don't want to buy resistors. i don't know much about the lights all i know is that they're 5mm. i have about 400 of them that i want to hook up to one of those big lantern batteries. i was planning on just sticking them to wire then the battery but the red ones burn out. the blue and green ones work fine but they get really hot

The LED is a solid state device, it has maximum and minimum values.
The resistor is REQUIRED to limit the voltage to the device.
It is entirely your choice to use the resistor of course, but when you exceed the voltage to the device, and allow the current to exceed the max allowable, the LED's PN junction will fry open.
I've seen LEDs blow the lense off.... you may see the same if you over voltage the LED.
