Is the iPad a music player capable of headphones and portable or even bookshelf speakers?
High quality music along with the svelte shape of the iPad could greatly help as a tool for presentations. Please inform.
The iPad has the same audio circuitry as the iPhone and iPod. Apple did do a great job of these 3 products for audio quality. It is very good. I will however point out that 320kbps audio files [good quality] are the easiest to find for iTunes... but is not the best digital music available.
Currently, Lossless: ALAC OR FLAC is the best. I haven't figured out how [don't really need] to import these types of files into iTunes so it syncs with my iPhone... let me know if you do.
These apple products are great for quality 2 channel music.
My wife has the iPad - and really likes it. Plenty of great apps / games for her. It is svelte and easily portable. It was not extremely expensive either.
Presentations? It can, but it doesn't have video out - or does it>?
Big Presentations it won't work. Small study groups - it is perfect.
For me, my Dell Studio Xps16 is just too heavy and big to carry everywhere / air travel... and gets damaged easily. It's great because it has everything and it's faster than most desktops...
So I have the Dell Vostro V13 for travel. It is very very thin [about 0.6" thick] and light, runs Win7 flawlessly, even plays 1080p full resolution movies perfectly.
It's onboard audio card is also decent... and because it is running Win7, playing FLAC files is easy. There are about 12 different players that will play FLAC for Win7 - easy.
Best of all is that this laptop [my configuration: with the new Intel Celeron 743: which is fast enough... faster than the A4 processor] is less than the base model iPad. It was only $400.
It works for me. Not as polished as the iPad or new Macbook Air [which is gorgeous]... but works for me.
