how do you set a sony a300 to manual?
i know how to set the focus to manual, but i have to have my camera on full manual to be able to adjust the aperture.

Time to sit down and READ & STUDY the Owner's Manual for the camera. Its the best way to learn how to use it.
Actually, you don't have to be in Manual Mode to adjust the aperture. Just shoot in Aperture Priority so you can choose an aperture and let the camera choose the shutter speed. I shoot 99% of the time in Aperture Priority.
